Workspace
The Full workspace is Snippbot Desktop’s main window: a sidebar of conversations, one or more split tab groups in the middle, and an inspector panel on the right. It’s the window to use for everyday work across several conversations at once; for a single quick exchange, see Quick Chat instead.
Sidebar
Section titled “Sidebar”The sidebar lists your conversations in three sections, in order:
- Needs you — a conversation with an open question or a pending tool approval.
- Working — a turn is actively streaming.
- Recent — everything else, most recent first (this section is labeled Results while you’re searching).
At the top, the search box filters by title and content, with its own shortcut shown as ⌘K (search and commands — the same combination that opens the command palette). New chat (⌘N) starts a conversation with your default agent; the small arrow next to it opens a picker to start with a specific agent instead.
If a conversation is already open in a tab group, its sidebar row shows which group number it’s in.
Tabs and tab groups
Section titled “Tabs and tab groups”Full workspace follows a VS Code-style layout: any number of tab groups, each with its own row of tabs, arranged in a split tree. A conversation is open in exactly one group at a time.
- Split right:
⌘\(Windows:Ctrl+\) - Split down:
⇧⌘\(Windows:Shift+Ctrl+\) - Drag a tab onto another group to move it there, or onto a group’s edge to split a new group off in that direction.
- Drag a divider to resize; double-click a divider to even out the two sides it separates.
The Layout menu
Section titled “The Layout menu”Click the layout icon in the toolbar to open the Layout menu:
- A grid of presets (2, 3, 4-pane layouts, etc.) you can apply directly — each is disabled with “Needs more room” if the window is too small for it.
- Auto-tile to this screen’s shape — pick a pane count and the app arranges them to fit the window.
- Even out pane sizes — resets every split in the tree to equal shares.
Each pane has a readable minimum size; if a layout won’t fit, the app toasts “Not enough room” and leaves your current layout alone.
Tab colors and badges
Section titled “Tab colors and badges”Right-click a tab for its context menu: Close, Close others, Tab colour… (pick from a palette or a custom color swatch), and Move to new group (right or below) or into any other existing group. A tab also shows a small badge when it needs you (an open question or approval) or has an unread reply.
Focusing and closing
Section titled “Focusing and closing”⌘1–⌘9— focus tab group 1 through 9.F6/⇧F6— cycle focus forward / backward through tab groups.⌘W— close the focused tab.
Pane header
Section titled “Pane header”Each pane’s header shows:
- The conversation title — double-click to rename it inline.
- The agent roster (avatar strip) for that conversation, with a + button to add another agent. Click an avatar to open that agent’s hover card.
- The interaction mode pill: Solo (only the mentioned agent replies), On-demand (the lead routes to the right agent), or Collaborative (several agents can reply and invite each other) — plus a max agent replies per message cap (Default, 10, 20, 40, or no limit) in the same menu.
- A Conversation actions (
…) menu: Rename, Use in Quick Chat, Download chat (saves a Markdown transcript), and Delete conversation (two-click confirm).
Command palette (⌘K)
Section titled “Command palette (⌘K)”⌘K opens the command palette — one search box for everything: jump to any open or recent conversation, start a new chat (with any agent), switch themes, split or close panes, apply a layout preset, open Settings sections, open Quick Chat, or sign out. It’s the fastest way to do almost anything without hunting through menus.
Inspector
Section titled “Inspector”The inspector is the panel on the right, toggled with ⌥⌘I (Windows: Ctrl+Alt+I) or the panel icon in the toolbar. It has four tabs:
| Tab | Shows |
|---|---|
| Activity | A collapsible timeline of tool calls per turn, grouped by agent reply, newest first. |
| Jobs | Background jobs running on the daemon, with Stop job and log viewing, plus any scheduled check-ins. |
| Files | The focused conversation’s workspace files — see Files. |
| Devices | The daemon’s connection details and this computer’s tool-runner status — see Tools on This Computer. |
With more than one tab group open, the inspector follows whichever group is focused, and shows a small “Following group N” indicator so it’s clear whose activity you’re looking at. Drag the inspector’s left edge to resize it, or collapse it entirely — a small “Activity” tab stays docked at the edge of the window to reopen it.
